Introduction to

Approved Care and Support

The company was formed in Oswestry in October 2016 and gained CQC accreditation in February 2017. Since then the company has grown organically in and around Oswestry and surrounding area. Approved Care and Support was formed due to a Need not a Want.

Our Carers

Our carers are not ‘just carers’. They are often the only people our clients see all day. As one client said ‘They always arrive with a smile on their faces and bring life to what otherwise are often long and empty days’.

Our carers are often the first people to notice that a client’s mood has changed, or that he or she is no longer is in his/her normal state of health. In fact they are very often the first to suggest to our customers or family and friends that a doctor or a nurse may need to be called just in case the change is something serious.

All of our staff demonstrate the right attributes to ensure they deliver outstanding care and support. They are proud to be called Approved Carers

We have a rigorous set of procedures which allow us to find out who our carers are. Before they are employed we obtain references and a DBS check, we interview them and then we put them on a training course at our in-house Training Centre, and then they shadow our more experienced carers. Only after this are they allowed to visit clients on their own

The process doesn’t stop there, we then have a spot check system whereby they will be observed by one of our Senior carers while they are at a customers premises and a written report will be placed on file and acted on where appropriate. On top of this we have a refresher course training programme and also a supervision and appraisal system.

Amanda has been involved in the care sector for over 20 years. She began her career in Nescliffe as a care worker. Since then she has been a Supervisor, coordinator, Extra Care Scheme Manager and started the journey as a Registered Manager.

Over the last 3 years Amanda has built up experience in Business Development and the most important thing she gained was understanding, for the customer, for the workers and for the community.

We have a wealth of expertise to draw from because the Director of Approved Care and Support comes from an experienced care background and has worked from the ground up. This experience stems from the early 1990’s when home care was still in its infancy and includes working for; local authorities, charities and the private sector in both residential and domiciliary care.

 

The needs and aspirations of the individual are at the centre of everything we do and this approach will earned us a quality reputation with the regulators and communities we support.

 

We will always been dedicated to putting people first – and so we embrace the onset of the personalisation agenda. We are proud to be at the forefront of delivering excellent domiciliary care – now and for the future.

 

Our service is registered with and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
